Database Maintenance

As a part of planned maintenance of the database system, there will be approximately two hours of scheduled downtime in the early hours of Saturday 22 November 2014.  This is part of the ongoing program of ensuring a high performing, reliable environment.

Only clubs with the Database Module (Full or Lite) will be affected.  However, with the work starting at around 4.30am, we do not expect this to affect many (or possibly any!) users.

Server security update

We have been notified by our server provider that they are rolling out an urgent security update this week.  This may result in a little downtime - possibly up to 2 hours - while the update is applied.

This will affect the website, bookings and leagues modules.  However, the membership database is not affected as that is hosted in a separate environment.

I am sure you will understand the need to ensure your systems are protected.

Website upgrade

We are delighted to announce the rollout of an upgrade to the website software and the server hardware.  The new software release is largely behind the scenes and is designed to improve the security and stability of the system.  The server upgrade is also designed to improve performance, and ensure that our systems remain "future proof" as more and more clubs use the ClubNet website.

Because of the server transfer, some users may experience an error when they first try to access the website after the upgrade.  This may be because:

  • a cookie may have been set on their browser, but this is no longer valid on the new server.  This will typically only apply where a member has forgotten to log out at the end of their previous session on the website.  In this case, they will see a "Server Error" message and the member will need to delete the cookies in their browser.  If they need help with how to do this, there is some guidance available but users use this at their own risk and should check with an IT expert before proceeding if they are not sure what to do

  • their browser is still looking at the old server to try to load the page, when the site is no longer live on the old server.  In this case, they will see the old "Web Server's Default Page" and the member will need to force the page to reload by pressing Ctrl+F5 on their keyboards; if this does not work, they will need to clear their browser cache.  If they need help with how to do this, there is some guidance available but users use this at their own risk and should check with an IT expert before proceeding if they are not sure what to do

The upgrade is being applied in stages, with some clubs already live on the new server.  Other upgrades will follow over the coming days and weeks as we monitor the rollout.

Bookings and leagues server upgrade

This will affect the Bookings and Leagues services only.  The Website and Database modules will not be affected.

Website server upgrade - TONIGHT

As a reminder of our earlier notification, the website server is being upgraded tonight.

The server move will start at 3am. The server will be shut down resulting in a period of downtime.  Once tested and re-installed in the new data center, the server will be checked, booted and then re-connected to the Internet.

During the move, the server may be offline for up to four hours.

Although we do not expect any issues to arise, it would be wise to ensure that you have backups of all relevant content from your website to enable your club to function in the event that the maintenance overruns.

New member search / directory

We have released a new member search facility, so that logged in club members can now search for another member via the club website or bookings system. This is available to clubs with the bookings module or the membership database (or database lite) module.

Club interface for leagues and bookings

We're pleased to be able to offer a new interface for clubs to use on their club computer or touchscreen. It's called a "shared interface" and has been available for a while for clubs with bookings.

Website server upgrade

Our server provider has built a completely new high-performance data center. This will provide a performance enhancement and increased stability. To facilitate the change, our server is scheduled to be migrated to the new facility on 15 August 2013, between 10pm and 6am. We expect 4 hours of downtime over this period.

Twitter Widgets have changed

On 11 June, Twitter withdrew their old "widget" - the bit of code which enables you to display your Twitter timeline, or other Twitter feeds, on your website. If you had such a section on your website, you may notice that it has disappeared. The good news is that you can get the widget back using the new code from Twitter, but you need to follow the following steps:
